Travelers should check with local governments to determine whether restrictions are in place (e.g., beach access, short-term rentals and hotels, visitor centers) and to contact lodging establishments directly for their most up-to-date information.

Hunting, Fishing & Boating

Closings, cancellations and postponements related to hunting, fishing, boating and other wildlife-associated activities from the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission.

North Carolina State Parks

North Carolina state parks and recreation areas, as well as trails, are open, but visitor centers, picnic shelters and swim areas remain closed. Visit the North Carolina State Parks website for the open/closed status of individual parks and recreation areas.

Because state parks have been experiencing record visitation numbers, consider visiting earlier in the day or on a weekday to avoid crowds.

North Carolina Historic Sites

North Carolina Zoo

Outdoor exhibits at the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro are open for visitors. Indoor habitats and seasonal attractions are closed. Outside dining is available.
